Cricket’s biggest tournament and most awaited – ICC World Cup will get under way in New Zealand and Australia on February 14.

The 11th edition of World Cup will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand from February 14 to March 29.

Dates – Tournament from February 14 to March 29, 2015

First match – Sri Lanka Vs New Zealand (Day) in Christchurch on February 14 (3.30 AM IST). Same day England Vs Australia in Melbourne (Day/Night) (9 AM IST)

14 teams (divided into 2 groups of 7 each)

210 players in total (15 per team)

49 matches will be played

44 days of action

14 cities (7 each in Australia and New Zealand)

11th edition of the World Cup

2 – United Arab Emirates (UAE) are playing their 2nd World Cup, after 1996

1 – Afghanistan will be making World Cup debut this year

2nd time World Cup comes to Australia and New Zealand after 1992

Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) will host the final on March 29

This is the first World Cup to be played under new field restrictions rules (only 4 fielders allowed outside the 30-yard circle in non-powerplay overs)

Prize money breakdown (in US dollars) (10 major changes at WC)

Winner – $3,250,000

Runner-up – $1,500,000

Semifinalists – $500,000

Quarterfinalists – $250,000

Winner of each group – $30,000

Teams eliminated after group stage – $35,000

Total – $8,010,000

Note: If a team wins the trophy without losing a match, they will receive a total prize money of $4,020,000, while a team that loses one match on the way to winning the tournament will get $3,975,000

The Decision Review System (DRS) will be used in all 49 matches of the tournament

There will be reserve days in the knock-out phase only

There will be no Super Over in tied matches in the knock-out phase, barring the final.

In case of a tied quarter-final and semi-final, the side finishing in the higher position in the group stage will progress.

If the final is tied Super Over will be used to decide the winner.
